Do You Know Your Township and Legislative Districts?

Do you know which township you live in? St. Louis County is divided into 28 townships. Townships are not the same as municipalities. Townships are political subdivisions of the county that are primarily used for political purposes. If you are a registered St. Louis County voter, you can find your township by checking your voter registration information at the Missouri Secretary of State website. Enter your name, ID information and home address. An abbreviation for your township will be listed under the precinct heading. You can also see which State House, State Senate, and US Congressional Districts you live in.

Every St. Louis County Township has two elected Democratic Committeepeople who serve on the St. Louis County Democratic Central Committee, the governing body of the St. Louis County Democratic Party. The Committeepeople are elected by Democratic voters of each township. Candidates for Committeeperson appear on the St. Louis County Democratic primary ballot during presidential election years.

Most St. Louis County townships also have Democratic clubs that serve the people of that township. If your township does not have an active club, you are welcome to attend the club of a neighboring township, or contact your Democratic Committeeperson to ask about starting a local club.
